So, who is right? I am confused about Ellis.

Anthony Ellis is for sure a good trainer and he knows a lot.

What i dont understand is why, everytime i ask someone (trainer or people onn net) about what they thing on his program, people will speak bad about it.

I mean, they speak well on a general way, but when it comes to the pyramid*, they will say bad things like: "This is not good for hypertrophy" or "This is for gaining strenght, not muscles" or "These are exagerated workouts! 2 reps?!" etc

I mean, Ellis is not crazy and he wouldnt do such a program, so why everybody (read = people that understand about hypert., etc) says bad things about the pyramid?

    * this is an old question that i always have but never get a real answer. The program used by Ellis, for hypertrophy (for skin guys) is something like this: work 3 days a week. Each session has some exercises in which one u will make 4 series with the following reps: 8-6-4-2 then a burnout and finally a superset to failure. I even heard people saying bad things about the useless of these supersets! I am so confused! My insticnt says that Ellis is right! Who wins? Can this program work?

PS: Sorry Ellis if you are reading this. No offense towards u. I am just wondering why people say these things about your program.

what is wrong with pyramiding reps?

In general, it is fine....you just have to know when to move onto something else. Everything works but nothing works forever.

not sure who you're asking but they probably don't like the fact that he is selling his program, they might think his claims are outrageous and/or they think he used steroids.

I think that in an old post from me, some people here said that this pyramid is not the best: 8-6-4-2 its too hard for hypertrophy they say. I am confused and i need to know if i start the program or not (now i am finnally in a gym and can start working on a consistent way).

This is why I think the guy is a troll, to gain 32 lbs in 12 weeks with steroids and losing 3-4% body fat at the same time is amazing. He is a cheater and a lier...he might be a new man now but untill he admits his crime I will think of him as just another loser.

beginners can make dramatic gains in a short period of time, it is not that unheard of.

unless you have proof you really should not go around calling him a cheater and liar.

it's impossible to gain that amount of muscles and lose that fat in the same time except in two cases 1- u r using steroids.

2- u are a mesomorph at a young age with the best diet on earth and best training program too and it's the first time to begin training in ur life......

and i guess this guy is no1#

You can PM me or just delete the post....it is physically impossible to gain 40.16lbs and drop 5.3% body fat at the same time in 12 weeks for any natural human....so 120.15 Lean mass to 160.31...so that is 40.16 lbs of muscle gaimed naturally in 12 weeks.....come on Rob you know this is just not possible.

i never understood the whole "holding the newspaper thing''i mean sure you see it in hostage movies, but isn't that to prove that the guy was still alive on that day?

i could go out and buy today's paper then in 3 months i could post myself holding it and say i was this and this on that day

There is nothing wrong with pyramiding repetitions, but some people just think it the be all end all of training programs. I also prefer to do reverse pyramids most of the time, assuming a proper warmup.

Just give the program a try. Let the results speak for themselves.

I don't care if Ellis is bullshit or not. So many people are bullshit these days and there is nothing we can do but speculate. I think his scenario is possible simply because he went from a practically emaciated state to halfway decent, and that's a lot different then going from average to good in the same time frame.

Maybe its better start slowly and then use his program in a later phase...i dont know. Lets see what my trainer says, because he is reading the program to see if it fits to me.
