You can drop 15lbs of fat in 8 weeks with just diet and no running. If you are runnung to get in shape for a sport then run once a day and 4 or 5 times a week
I highly recommend all IronMagLabs supplements!

I agree.......to much running all you are going to do is tired yourself out and probably burn yourself out on it. And your strength and size will probably suffer.

I would definitely spend more time on getting your diet down. Read the information available in the diet & nutrition section and post your diet there.

Resistance training 2-3 times per week supplemented with another 2-3 sessions of cardio each week should be plenty.

I so don't know everything, but from my own experience, and from most of what I have read, it is neigh impossible unless you are incredibly genetically gifted to drop the tough lbs without losing some lean body mass. The most common solution to maintaining as much as possible is to, as said above, pay very close attention to your diet, consider suppliments like glutamine to retain as much lean mass as possible, and get to cutting!

    If you don't mind...

...rebulking, I'd suggested dropping the weight a bit quicker, like 2lbs a week or so. It can be a bit faster. Also, once you hit the weight you want to start bulking at, unless you are going for *huge* mass, there is no reason to put much body fat on over 11%. Just find out your bmr, add in the calories you will burn through exercise, and eat that amount +3 calories per lb. of body weight (Not 600 cals of hot fudge sundae ;^). That should let you bulk with the majority being muscle, and very very little pudge factor.

Yeah, 2lbs per week is pretty reasonable considering your bodyweight. Also, when your body fat levels are higher you can drop it quicker without losing LBM.

Also, an upper limit of 11% is pretty rough. That is very hard to maintain for some people. I wouldn't even necesarrily recommend it for a 14 year old. Most likely, if he just cleans up his diet and makes healthier eating choices (More vegetables, less processed foods, etc.) and starts exercising he will notice a dramatic weight loss. This is a time in his life where he can put on muscle like none other. Don't waste it trying to maintain super low body fat percentages. Don't go crazy and get yourself up to 25%, but I think an upper limit of 15% is far more reasonable.

So true. Take it from me with experience. I'm 16 and I was 230 last September or so and now I'm down to about 188 (at last weigh-in). All I did was try to eat more meals more frequently throughout the day. I just made the meals smaller and had the largest meals in the beginning of the day, tapering my calories throughout. Avoid pop and fried/processed foods like the plague. Instead, drink skim milk and lots and lots of water. I don't see why people pay for carbonated sugar water all the time when they could get the pure stuff for free at most places. There are a lot of little things you can do (above) that will quickly add up to fat losses. If you start a training regimine (which I highly recommend) on top of that, you'll be eating the right foods (lots of fruits, veggies, carbs, proteins) to feed the muscle and starve the fat off. It really isn't that difficult. It just takes some discipline. Good luck.
