how to avoid elbow tendonitis....

from doing pushups. I have been doing pushups with adequate rest and I have been getting a persistent flare-up from my elbow through my forearm in my left arm. Any advice?

Thank you.

rest
ice

warm up the elbow a lot before the workout.
maybe wear an elbow wrap to increase heat around the joint.

I think I mayhave had this, but I never could say that I did for sure.

During heavy barbell curls, the next few days, along where my forearm meets the bone (on the outside of each forearm) it would hurt like crazy if I squeezed them. I mean, sometimes I couldnt even curl the next week.

Only rest did it. And I stopped doing crazy weight during curls.
Funny part is, I am weaker in the curling department, but my arms are much, much bigger. (2 inches I think)
