suck it the fuck up man! just quit bitchin and train it
i have become stronger definitely in my upper body.......chest, shoulders, etc.
but i can't seem to stay dedicated to working my legs. i will include it in my workout then eventually they seem to work themselves out again. i enjoy working my chest and arms. i enjoy working my back, but those damn legs.....i hate it. i know its necessary for overall symmetry and etc. but how do you get motivated to do a group of excercises you hate to do?

I recommend hitting the squat cage, its one-excersize leg workout, if you do squats, you won't have to do anything else. Do squats to the point of muscle failure (should be at about 8 reps). If you do this properly, you will redefine the term pain. If you do these before the rest of your work out, your muscles (even upperbody) will be a lot tighter and stronger. Squats also have what you call an overspill effect, meaning you gain muscle everwhere, not just in your legs. I actually added 35 lbs to my bench after about 2 weeks of squatting.
Quit being a pussy, and hit the dam squat cage...

Just work your legs.
(I see guys all the time who love working their chest or whatever, and neglect their legs. Chicken legs are NOT attractive.)

Oh I hate working legs to, but theres just something that looks pretty damn good about a pair of 30inch quads to go along with 20 inch arms. I mean come on man you don't want to look like a chicken. I do however understand where you are coming from, I dread leg day. But sometimes you have to do what you dont wanna do.

I love working my legs, one of my favorite workouts.
There's a guy that goes to my gym that is the epitome of chicken legs and a big upper body.
I mean it is really pathetic. He's in his mid 40's.
His legs are literally the size of a 70 year old man's. But he has some 17+ inch arms, a massive chest, and a large powerful back.
Its terrible, I want to kill him.
You must realize that a strong posterior chain means stronger fucking muscles. You can pound it a lot better if you get those glutes up to par. Think about this while you're squatting.
Does that help?

Hmm... Perhaps doing SLDLs without fail and getting into the 330s with them isn't such a bad thing after all then...Originally Posted by CowPimp

Variety. Variety. Variety.
When I started doing different exercises on leg day, I started enjoying Legs more. As a newbie, I didnt like doing legs either. It fucking hurts and you cant see them when wearing most clothes, so thats why the motivation runs low.
As a newbie (that lasted years), I did squats, legs presses, and leg extensions. Always the same order, sometimes I would do leg press and cut out squats. Pretty shitty workout. BUT. When I started to do Deadlifts on Leg day and started reading into shit, plus becoming interested in personal training, I started realizing how important they are. That would be your mental-ground work right there. Once you establish, even a half way decent plan, the motivation starts.
Just take it easy and enjoy yourself. Easy does not = non-productive workouts, however.

I injured my shoulder so I took 10 weeks off all upper body lifting, after a 4 week break all I did was: squats, dead lifts, SLDL and some calf work....guess what...my upper body did not shrink at all. Training legs is a must if you want a big strong upper body.

Count your calories sir. Not gaining weight is an issue of inconsistent resources to do so. You will gain weight at a certain point. Now, if you're gaining weight but it's mostly fat, then you have to re-evaluate what you're doing.Originally Posted by Soul of Sol
