Check out Farmers Walk. Search that.

Static holds with dumb bells worked for me.

I just did a grip workout yesterday. I was pretty frustrated.
I have a question. For those of you who have had lousy grip strength and then later trained for it, how long did it take for you to make your grip stronger?

I started noticing stronger grip within a couple weeks, which was suprisingly fast.Originally Posted by AKIRA

I don't consider myself to have a monster grip by any means, but I'm now able to pick up and walk with 150 pounds DBs for a short while, do laps around a room with 120 pound DBs and do a double overhand deadlift (not snatch grip or anything fancy, just plain old DOH) with 380. Oh, and when I squeeze my twenty-year-old brother's wrist, I can cut off the blood flow and make him get on his knees. I guess that's pretty cool, too. Heh, heh, heh...Originally Posted by AKIRA

pinch grip two plates together
hang from a chin up bar from one hand (for time)
farmer walks (as mentioned above)
towel pullups
train with thinker bars
take up bouldering (climbers have awesome forearm and finger strength)![]()

Chinups and pullups have done wonders for my grip strength. As have deadlifts without the alternate grip.

Well it took longer, but I did see some more size/definition after a couple months.Originally Posted by AKIRA

I agree, rock climbing and such will get you great forearm strength. Experienced rock climbers have insane finger strength.Originally Posted by Bakerboy
With all that said and true, I recently ordered a pair of strength grippers from:
http://www.heavygrips.com/
I have been using them for two weeks, 3x a week for about 5 min, totally seporate from my other workouts, and I am seeing fantastic strength results!
I got the 150lb and the 200 lb. At first I could only close the 150 lb in my left hand twice and my right once. Just in two weeks I can close it 5x in my left and 3 on my right, and can now close the 200lb once with both hands.
They take a little getting used to, but I think they are excellent, and are aiding my pullup/chinup rope work a TON. Not a bad buy at all IMHO.
Work on closing this.

Farmer's walks and towel chinups/rows are a staple in my programs for quite a while now. Deadlifting is great of course too. I use a double overhand grip up until it would fail me and then switch to alternating.

Last time I pulled 425, which was a few months ago, I sort of half assed the lockout because my grip was done. I probably wouldn't have been given green lights in a competition. The other day I pulled 430 and held that lockout for several seconds. It has also allowed me to break records on Romanian deadlifts (These also help my grip), which are a key accessory exercise for getting a stronger deadlift.Originally Posted by AKIRA
I had been getting stuck on the floor recently because I couldn't grip hard enough to transfer all of the force generated into upward movement when linked to the bar. Between speed deadlifts and grip work I got moving much better right off the floor.
