How does this rep/set scheme look?

Hey guys i was curious to get your opinions on some rep/set schemes i was thinking about.... I have currently been doing a 5x5 routine for a few months now and i would like to change up the set/rep scheme a bit.. however im not sure if i should change the 5x5 sets to possibly 4x8 and use the same linear method of adding weight.. or perhaps using a pyramid scheme with something like 8 6 4 2 1 ?? Please help!!

After months of low reps your body need a break...I would bump it up to 10 reps for a month or two.

Im honestly not really comfortable going that high for more than a set.. Would 4x8 be better? Or perhaps 10 8 6 4? Thanks foreman

I agree with Foreman.
Why don't you feel comfortable with 10 rep sets?

10 reps is nothing. 15 reps is tough!

Anyway, I agree with foreman....your body needs a break from heavy lifting both physically and neurologically. Dropping back to high reps for a few weeks is a good idea. the fact that you don't feel comfortable doing it is the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard.

What I do is mix it up every week. One week I do 5x5, the next week I do 3x3, and the next week 4x4. It works for me. When I wanted to gain muscle I gained 10 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks.

Well its not so much physically im not comfortable with them it has more to do with the fact i like lifting heavier for the most part and my form tends to crap out if i hit the 10+ rep range for more than a few sets

I like lifting heavy too, but I know I can't do it all the time.

Don't train to failure and you won't have to worry about your form crapping out.
