Do you have any experience resistance training right now? If not, a basic foundation needs to be built before you should bother specifically working on training the rate of force development. You will experience improvements in this biomotor ability with basic strenght training.

HIIT (High intensity interval training) is a form of cardiovascular conditioning that mixes bouts of anaerobic level cardiovascular activity with recovery periods of lower intensity aerobic cardio.

Football starts in about 5-6 weeks son, you better get to the gym fast, you should have started training for it 8+ months ago.

i cant think of a better exercise than dls. They tear up the glutes which will really increase lower body strength and having a strong ass will really get ur speed up ( lol no homo). Its true along with some hamstring power. If u want to work on ur endurance do 25-30 mahler body blasters. Ur endurance will go thru the roof.

Start 3-a-days now so when the 2-a-days start you'll breeze through like nothing. Get a job at Wal-Mart for the summer collecting shopping carts work from 7am to 7pm in 105°f heat on a blacktop parking lot pushing 80+ carts up a slight incline all day. I puked my guts out the first week and a half.

and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

    I would work...

    General strength as CowPimp said.
Sprint form at low intensity (Form is more important than speed of movement).
Conditioning-Start with aerobic and then progres to HIIT as per Cowpimp's suggestion.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

I started training for this season of football 2 days after last season ended. That was back in September. In the peak of my training I was doing a full upper/lower split daily, and then sprinting ( I mean full out running ) a 400 afterwards as a gutcheck 2-3 mins after finishing my last lift. When we got into spring football we started doing footwork movements ( being on all fours and doing rolls, lateral movements etc ), sprinting hills, working cones. 3 Weeks before 2 a days start I'm going to start doing 15+ 50 yard sprints ( minimum a day ) in 105+ degree weather to get my body used too the physical abuse it's going to take during the first few weeks of a football. That's actually our end of the day conditioning during the regular season. The last hour of 2 a days is spent doing this supplemented with cone drills, and other sprinting work. I'll say this much, don't be afraid to puke in preperation for football season. You'll be suprised how easy the rest comes.
