so my workout partner flaked out on me, and i have no one to spot me.

for dumbbell bench presses, i find it hard to get the weights up initially even in the 8RM range. any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about your friend. To think that he was taken out by anti-aircraft fire while at the gym. What's the world coming too?

My advice would be to stop using your friend to do your work. Drop it to a weight that you can lift.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group

about another group that actually does something

Yeah, thats what I was thinking.

I always workout by myself. And when it comes down to doing a shady bench, Ill grab someone with some muscle. If there are just old people and women around, I either lower the weight, reps, or take a chance.

Come to think of it, I havent asked for a spot on anything else other than bench for maybe...years?

Off topic, but on the page Brutis posted I found this:

That is fucking nuts! I don't think I can even do 1 BW GHR like that.

What he said. My first rep is horribly bad form and I don't count it....it's just to get myself to the start position. Once I get situated, I'm good to go.
