Heavy dead hang chin ups?
BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com I have a question concerning form on (cg) chin ups.
Lately, I have been increasing the weight I use on my (cg) chin ups. My question is this. Should I be going to a dead hang? ?I have always done my chin ups and pull ups to a dead hang because I thought that was the best way to do them. Then a few years back I was talking to a dancer friend of mine who said he could not put his arms straight because of years of doing pull ups just shy of a dead hang. But with all the extrat weight I am using I am worried about the stress on my tendons, mainly in my elbows. Should I be concerned? I am having success with the added weight but I want to be safe too. What do you guys think? |

It's almost easier to do a dead hang, when you you don't go all the way down you keep tension on the lats. Doesn't really answer your question though.

Of course it's hard to know for sure but it does make we wonder I mean it's just what he told me.
I just want to know what other people do and compare. What do you do CP? Do you go to a dead hang on your chin ups/ pull ups or just shy? Do you do them any differently when using a lot of extra weight? |

Yeah, I think I will just stick to the dead hang chin ups and pull ups but I will have one day devoted to heavy weights/ low reps/ 4-5 sets, and then another light day (of just my BW) of high reps/ 3 sets. I will just make sure I do a few warm up sets on my heavy day with just my BW and not go to failure. Thanks for your input, guys.

I usually go just short of a dead hang, but I come very close. I really don't think an extra 3 degrees of motion is going to make or break the results you get from the lift. At a complete dead hang, there is actually 0 resistance (Besides inertia) to overcome anyway.
