    Post Define "post-workout high"

Ya know, until I came to this site, I never heard of or noticed a certain kind of "high" after leaving the gym.

However, I do notice that I have a 'well-being' after I leave the gym; a totally neutral mind frame, which would not be normal for me.

Is this the "high?" Or is it something else I just dont notice?

On a side, but similiar note, working out is known for reducing stress. Although, Ive read this countless of times, I dont feel any less stressed throughout my day (other than that neutral feeling I get when I leave) when I workout.

Makes me wonder if I didnt workout, how "stressed" Id be.

There's no doubting the high after I workout. It's kinda silly the way I would describe it but here goes.

I feel like Superman after just rescuing a bunch of people from there eminent death in a plane crash.

Um...and I wanna fuck as soon as I get home. After about 20 minutes I lose the feeling and only want to sleep.

    2 entries found for endorphins.
    en·dor·phin Audio pronunciation of "endorphins" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-dôrfn)
    n.

Any of a group of peptide hormones that bind to opiate receptors and are found mainly in the brain. Endorphins reduce the sensation of pain and affect emotions.

I definitely notice it after intense leg workouts but that's it.

wow, this is exactly how I am after the gym also. I can't go without the gym no more.

but the days that I'm focus and just rip up the weights, I leave feeling all tingly and I feel like i'm up for anything and can do anything.

u said it's you dont always feel "well-being" or neutral frame of mind...........you should try EC stack, if u dont already do so. I"m kinda in the same boat, but now on EC stacks, my mind is balanced all day now.

You're right, it's not like drinking a 12 pack to the face. It's far more subtle. I usually feel confident, strong, somewhat carefree, and alive.

Directly after the workout i feel knackered, then after about 20 minutes i feel energetic and slightly horny, then after another 20/30 minutes i just feel my normal, cocky, arrogant self again.

Most of that latter part is due to training aswell :P. Ive always had a problem with confidence, but sure as hell dont this last 8 months or so. Hell no.

Yesterday was a perfect example for me. I felt so horrible after work yesterday I ALMOST didn't go to the gym. But in the back of my head I knew that I would feel so good after I got home (from the gym), and I did. I also knew I was going for a PR on bench and I love that anxious feeling I have in my stomach right before I make a lift I've never attempted before. I definitely give working out credit for my new general sense of "well-being".

I usually leave my upper body workouts feeling pissed off. As for lower body, I feel fantastic afterwards.

My horny-ness doesnt seem to be changed after I workout, but I do feel sleepy an hour after working out, especially if I am bored.

Now, Ive dragged my ass to the gym somedays and was grateful afterwards, but as far as being cocky or strong...I dont know. And if I dont know, then Id say no, I feel the same afterwards.

But again, I do feel carefree and Id say that can be confused with being cocky, depending on the point of view.

I feel the high mostly during my workouts. Especially if I get a real good pump and experience one of those workouts that just click. eg. Being able to lift my max with great form and everything just feels smooth. Nothing beats a massive pump when your muscle feels like its going to explode.
