What's Better For Size & Strength?

Working to failure, but you can train twice a week...

    or

Blasting the hell out of the body part where you can only train one body part per week?

I blasted a my upper body last week and this week I have to skip training it. It sucks having to just sit around cuz I'm still sore.

Well, your going to get differing opinions on this...

Higher frequency seems to be the way to go for more size... IMO. HST, WSBB, Dual Factor type training all recommend splits where each bp is hit at differing intensity levels 2-3 times per week.

Obviously if your working out HIT style, 7-10 days may be more appropriate.

While strength and size may not be directly coorelated, I think getting stronger is the fastest and most advantageous way of getting bigger.

You keep skipping a week everytime your sore and you'll go nowhere real quick.

Maybe it's just me, but I use several different training methods including going to failure and I end up sore sometimes also. But I have never skipped a workout cause I was sore.

If you had a labor job laying blocks and found yourself sore the next day, are you going to call in sick?. Quit being a little girl and train a different body part. Try the lower body parts if you know where they are.

Pardon me, I had to skip my monday workout, (I workout upperbody on thurday as well).

But I dunno man, I never meet anyone or read anything which says working out while sore is a good idea. I mean that's when you grow.

No one even really know why soreness occurs. It has something to do with microtrauma to the muscles in question, but it can persist after recovery has largely taken care of the problem. Studies have shown that you can train through soreness with recovery being unabated.

I'm not saying it's the best way, but I train on my planned day no matter what, if I'm still sore I suck it up, and surprisingly sometimes I get more weight or more reps on a "sore day" (not usually, but sometimes)
    Fok it, lift.

If I'm still sore I just do a light workout the next day and then carry on with my routine throughout the week.

Just a note: I hit a deadlift PR today with sore hamstrings. Didn't seem to slow me down.
