    Feeling the burn

i have always seen the burning in ur muscles after a set as a key indictator of a good set and ultimately at the end of ur session as a good session.

but i have been reading up from numerous sources that the "burn" is a myth, some kind of gym folklore if u want to call it that and the actual burning feeling u get is actaully detrimental to ur muscles

what do u guys think of this?

the burn usually occurs when you have extremely worked the muscles and as far as i know it is due to the splitting of the fibres but advanced lifters do not always get this as they have acclimatised

I will see if i can find some info on it

when resistance is applied to a muscle or group of muscles, the muscles burn of antacid in that area. So all the burn really is is antacid burning in the area. So don't stop when you feel the burn, stop when you can't do anymore sets.

It's lactid acid, which can be good and bad.

Lactic acid may have something to do with your hormonal response to a workout, but it is only one indicator. I don't get much of a lactic acid burn during a set that consist of 4-6 repetitions, but I definitely see results in the form of strength and size.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

^ same here. I only really feel "the burn" on high rep days. On medium rep days they ache a bit, and on low rep days im just very tired.

All i know, is that when i first began training 2.5 years ago, I was getting "the burn" alot more. My muscles felt like they were exploding particulary my arms... I dont get that feeling much anymore, mainly because I train in the 3-5 rep range. I think I'd have to do a set of 20 rep squats to feel the burn.
