The upper back acts as a stabilizer quite a bit when doing standing overhead pressing movements. You probably strained a muscle or something. Use some ice and ibuprofin, and see a doctor if it is still bothering you in a couple days, or now even.
I was doing shoulder workout standing up (i dont think it was a good idea)... when i hurt my upper back. When I move, I get pain in my upper right back. Anyone know anything I could do to heal fast?

As FUFU said use ice. Use it for 24-48 hrs and then switch to heat.Originally Posted by AZNracerx1989
ok, I went to work for a day and it healed...
Is there anyway I can make this part of my body stronger without injury? I see pros lift heavy weights above their heads...
Rowing is great for the upper back. You could do reverse fly type movements like band pull-aparts, face pulls, reverse flys, etc. YTWLs are awesome. I use those all over the place. If you have the flexbility to pull off overhead squats those are good, but I would ease into that one, as it is similar to the movement where the injury occured.Originally Posted by AZNracerx1989
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
