Is it ok to max out, go off to other exercises, and then come back to 1st exercise?
Hiya All,
1st time back in the Gym, after a Loooong absence.
Question:
If you are doing Dealifts one night - Is it ok to max out, go off and do other exercises, and then come back to the Deadlifts - and do one last "super set"?
Eg. Last night:
Dead Lifts
Ab Crunches
Shoulder DB Presses
Did my sets of Deadlifts - it was a killer! (I took 2 min breaks on the last few - and used those breaks to do the Ab Crunches)
Went of and did my Shoulder DB Presses
Fancied going back to do one last set of Deadlifts - a heavy "super set" but left it, as not sure if this is best practice...
But is going off for 10mins, doing other exercises too long tho? (Ie, ok still warmed up, but too long a break for muscles concerned for deadlifts????)

I think training circuit style is a perfectly valid way to do things, but just out of curiosity, why do you want to do it that way?
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
circuits are cool like this. you can do a lot of different things with circuits to make them more strength oriented or power oriented or anerobic or whatever. you can get creative. Most people think of circuits as some fat bitch walking around doing light weight/high reps on a bunch of cybex machines while Michael Bolton drones on in the back ground. It doesn't have to be like that at all.

Haha, agreed. Lately I have actually been posting my circuits in my journal. There you can see an example of some good circuits geared toward anaerobic conditioning.

Not too bother with circuit training idea... I just wanted to go back to the deadlift, at the end of the session, for one last super set effort - to get the most bang out of my night's training
I'm aiming only for strength gains in the 1st few months. After that, I hoping to keep the weights going this time, and go for bulking up...
(BTW we won another national dance competition over the weekend... my weight training last year, with your help guys, really worked wonders for boosting basic strengh - thanks one and all! We are now moving up a competition division, and I now need to do some "small lift" moves, where I lift my partner off the floor and spin her around. This needs to be done smoothly, and not with me shaking with effort etc. next Competition is October 14th..... )
My routine 2006 is based on "hard gainer" principles, and also lack of time. It is pretty much the same as last years.. and I'm supplementing with Creatine (Loaded up 4 days before hand) to try and give my sessions an extra kick.
Wed:
Dead Lifts
Ab Crunches
Shoulder DB Presses
Sun:
BD Bench Press (flat)
Ab Crunches
Squats
DB Rows

hmmm....when you start Clean Bulking it might be kinda hard with the dancing you do . why dont you try a push/pull/legs routine? or are you satisfied(sp?) with what your doing now. or you can do a full body push/pull like i'm gonna start next week.
Nothing wrong with full body twice a week. You use plenty of solid compound movements; it looks like a good program. If I had one suggestion, it would be to throw some chinups/pullups on the first day.

I like the program too. basic and hits everything you need to hit. I agree with CP. Just throw some pull/chin ups or pulldowns in on day one and your are set.
