Deadlifting form
only been doin these for two weeks, and really trying to hammer out the form to avoid injury.

Looks like he's rounding his back in the first one. He also shot his hips way up as soon as the pull began, and it didn't look like he was using his glutes to lockout the weight.
The second video is hard to tell. A side view is much better for evaluating form. A view from multiple angles is really the best. |

The personal trainer form looks good, but I didn't like his little bit on the grips, he had it all off.

what do you guys mean bad grip? so i'm not suppose to use my thumbs but still use the over/under grip?
and is there any use to both hand over grip? |

He suggest using a mixed grip right off the bat, I have no idea why. I would only use a mixed grip if I absolutely had to, otherwise, I'd stick with a DOH(double over hand).

he also called the alternate grip a 'hook' grip which it is not. a hook grip is when you have both hands pronated (overhand grip) and you tuck your thumb underneath your first and middle fingers.

the question is not what is better but what is more comfortable. I used to always pull alternate grip. I never really felt comfortable doing it because I would always rotate towards the supinated hand (the under hand). So I pull hook grip. Other are comfortable with the alt. grip so they do that. |

if anything, try and pull overhand (or hook grip) up until a weight that you can't hold it and then switch to alternate grip. that way you atleast get to work on your grip strength a little and build up those forearms.
