Burnout Exercices: Do you do them?

I like to do a burnout excercise after working a muscle group. For example, after chest I get on a wide chest machine and put 2 45's on each side and do as many reps as possible, then immediately take 1 45 off each side and do as many reps as possible, and then immediately go into doing as many pushups as possible. What do you think of these sorts of end-of-workout excercises?

I understand there is a theory that says that different muscle fibres fire at different points of muscle fatigue. So Low rep high weight is good for some and hi rep work is good for others.

I dont personally do burn out exercise but once in a blue moon it sounds like it would be interesting to try.

Dropsets are my personal favorite intensity booster... The best when you train solo imo.

Well there are typeIIa and typeIIx muscle fibers, but they fire at different levels of intensity, not different levels of muscle fatigue.

i think he means (drop sets) ....they are not for hypertrophy and size .... but they would be benefical from time to time .... you could do it for example once every 3 weeks for each muscle group.......

the idea of the burnout set is to lift heavy and excite the nervous system and then drop back and do a burnout set or two to increase mechanical work. Gironda recommended it. Doggcrapp seems to have a similiar type of thing except he uses extreme stretching as a way to increase mechanical work after intense sets. I usually just have people go heavy on whatever we need to go heavy on and then move onto supplemental work as do more reps as way to to achieve the same sort of thing.

I've done them in the past. I won't say I'll never do one again, but I didn't notice anything special about dropsets in the way of results.
