Either he's a jackass or he's pretty confident at that weight I would imagine.

who is a jack ass? It wasn't up to the guy benching, you can assure yourself of that! The head judge was being a dick for some reason and made him hold it there.

it is a wide grip.....

a) he is a powerlifter....the wider you go the less ROM the bar has to move, the more weight you can lift (if you can get comfortable like that because it does put a lot of stress on the shoulder).

and

b) he looks to be a pretty tall dude so that is probably a comfortable distance for his levers.

That and he's able to get more of his "outter pecs" into the movement right?? That's what I learned from ahnolds book...

....

I can't imagine putting that kinda stress on my shoulders...

A powerlifter bench pressing has to hold the weight for over 8 seconds before being commanded to lift... !!!

I didn't even notice it the first time. Barely had the volume on... That's definitely a long ass pause.

I keep it low so the neighbors won't hear...

LMAO I think that judge spaced out...

Kenwood, did you right click and download it or are you trying to stream it? Try saving it, then play it. If you still can't see it then you need a codec.

The big deal is the judge waited forever to tell him to PRESS, which is supposed to be done once they see that they touched the weight.

Obviously he touched, yet the judge sat there. This makes it harder for the person to perform the lift without failure, because of fatigue, and killing stretch-reflex (what of it might be left after rest pausing anyway).

That wasn't obvious? You try parking the weight for 3 seconds next time when you max.

I think the judge had his eye on a bit of skirt that was out of the camera shot

I think Mudge is right, the judge just spaced out. You can't be spacing out when people have 500 pounds sitting on their chest...
