Do you think that would be different today assuming they wore lop Cons. I mean the need to stay in top physical shape year round. It would seem there training regime would need to be a lot more strict now adays compared to 30-40 years ago especially with the dollars involved. Could there be a possibilty of imbalances and overuse injuries moreso now?

Once you start working with some big weights you will feel just how much regular shoes move around. I damn near fell over with 600 pounds in my hands using regular shoes, they become quite jelly like.

If I were able to deadlift 600lbs (which would be damn good at my BW) I would consider trying out the moccasins. Until then, I would just look like an idiot.

lol, i said that before i even read the article. I just briefly skimmed through so my statement really had nothing to do with the article.

But i'm not lying about the fact that i have never had a problem lifting weights with regular sneakers. However, i have been only lifting for 1.5 years and i'm sure there will be problems down the road once i start uppin the weights.

So, what style of shoes are best for weightlifting now. Should i just buy converse shoes? I can't workout barefoot in my gym and i don't think wearing socks only is gonna work too.

possibly the ugliest powerlifting shoes i have ever seen.

I like the samba classics from Adidas personally for most of my lifting. I like the olympic shoes for the olympic lifts and front squats and that is all.

Actually, I have seen some of your pictures, and if you wore those shoes, they would be the least embarassing thing you were wearing.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.
