    football coach says

the other day my football team was in the weightroom and my coach came up to me and was telling me it was time i put on some muscle bc i have a huge frame and i have a lot of potential. Iv been lifting for a year and had put on a bunch of muscle but he says i still need much more. I switch up my rutine about every 6 weeks. I usally do some type of upper/lower split or push pull legs. monday -chest triceps shoulders tuesday-legs abs thursday-back biceps -then repeat on sat.
I guess eating is what im missing out on? Bc i know i have the lifting part down but im not gianing that much anymore. So what should i do to pack on some lbs. Eat 3,000-35000 cals a day? currently i eat 6 times a day and i drink a lottttttt of water. im 6'2 184 lbs

    gracias

The time to grow is off season not now. You should be training just to maintain mass right now and working on your game. You can grow next year.

Aren't strength and endurance more important than mass at football?

power, quickness, agility, speed, strength....all important for football.

as you start to get to more competitive play.....putting on more mass is going to help you.

    What position are you?

If you're 6'2" and 184 lbs and an offensive lineman then you need some mass. For a receiver or safety/CB you're probably fine.

Well you don't want to be a mass monster for those positions. Mass as in the 300 pounders mentioned above. Speed and strength are far more important out there. I played DE in HS and In College and did exceptionally well at 245-250(College) HS I was only around 215 at 5'11. So I have to agree with P-funk when he said "power, quickness, agility, speed, strength"
P-diddles there said quickness and speed. (quickness= fast off the line for those who may think P-diddles there made a mistake by saying speed and quickness)

Typically HS students, especially 16 year olds, struggle to put on weight. Concetrate on becoming stronger and more agil and you will grow as you mature. Keep eating and continue to train hard!

Would it be bad for him to start eating a lot now?? I know he should focus on growing off season (just cuz you say so, I don't know anything about this stuff) But would it hurt him to start eating the house now?? As long as his training stays the same??

well, in season, you aren't training as much. you are practicing a lot and doing minimal (usualy 2-3 workouts) per week of low volume strength maintenance.

Extra cals could equal extra fat and slow him down.
