The lack of belt is not the reason.

Any idea what it is?

about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.
i was using strict form and even stopped once I knew I couldnt continue without cheating
a) holding weight extended out infront of the body places an extremely high amount of pressure on the spine.
b) not wearing a belt is no the problem. In fact, if you typically do were a belt, that is probably your problem.
c) sounds like you strained your back. ice, rest, rinse, repeat.

I'm no trainer - but if it hurts - dont use it - thats my motto. I think you'll find it'll heal quicker if you let it get on with it![]()
I'm 34 - when am I officially an old fart?
Brother, use common sense. Don't exercise your back today. Rest it, ice it. Wait until it feels better before exercising.
Seriously? You are most likely to ignore everything everyone says and go work out anyway, and then come back here later today, worse off than before, and bitch about how much your back hurts. After that, anyone who is still thinking they can help you will tell you again, "Don't work out. rest , ice, etc." and you will still go back to the gym tomorrow and try to work out again.![]()
Is that a confirmation? :o
I really hope this doesnt backfire on you matey...![]()

while were on the back injury topic
hard labor and weightlifting usually always creates a situation where u
may injure your back quite often and i have done it on several occasions now
from over working myself and just wierd spasms when lifting.
so does anyone have any magical remedies that they belive to be helpful when this occurs. i personally use rest, and painkillers lol and heating pad occasionaly when its really bad. anyone know of any really good methods.

Wow, a lot of back injuries recently. I strained my lower back a few days ago doing deadlifts (completely my fault, by accident I didnt have proper form for 2 sets so I stopped lifting, but the damage was done).
So how long after the pain goes away should one start working out again? A week? Couple of days? Ill certainly do a "light" day once I start working back/legs again.
Im not sure if I should continue on with the Starr program I started (im in week 4), since I cant do most of the compound leg stuff (squats, etc..) or even some back stuff (a yates row actually aggravated it after I stopped with the deadlifts on the day of the injury). So I am toying with the idea of taking a week (or 2??) off completely from lifting until the back heals up, and then start a new Starrr program from scratch.
just got back from the gym. Did back...
Pulldowns
T-Bar rows
db rows
lower back extendsions
Feel great.. no pain what so ever...

glad your back is better, drama queen
I don't think there was ever anything wrong with his back. i think this was his clever way of trying to get me to give him a massage.
