    Split Question

So I started doing splits now instead of doing a full body workout and My question is this.

When I do my splits how should I do them?

For example on Chest and Tricep day I have been doing 4 different chest and 4 different tricep exercises, 4 sets of each. I normally do all 4 chest exercises and then move on to all 4 tricep exercises. Is this ok?

Or should I switch back and forth between the two and go chest/ti chest/tri chest/tri chest/tri?

if you are going to do it like that I would train the larger movements first (chest presses) and then finish with the smaller, single joint movements (tricep extensions).

Hmm I guess it would depend on the type of movement, whether it is isolated or compound. Im guessing you'll be doing Bench press so it would be good to start with that. Also maybe its just me but 4 excersizes for each body part seems quite a lot! On my Chest/tricep day I do very heavy bench press and very heavy skull crushers, really high intensity and afterwards im done in. I go on holiday tomorow so i wanted to add some squats in to my Chest/ tricep day today (since i wont be working out on holiday) but even 1 set was a real struggle after benching and skull crushers. I guess it depends what kind of intensity your training at, but for me, 4 excersizes for each body part on the same day would be way too much. Anyway this is just my two cents.

I'm suprised the others didn't touch on this, but I don't know why you would need 4 tricep exerscises. Especially after 4 chest exerscises. Your triceps are being worked with all your pressing movements to begin with. What does the actual workout look like? There are a few stickies in the training section that can help you to set up an effective split. Read up, try an come up with something, and I'm sure others will chime in and help.

So you do 16 sets for triceps? That is way to much! Smaller groups (tricep and bicep) around 6 sets. Larger groups chest, back, legs normally around 12 sets or a few less.
