    They were rubber I think.

But they weren't furry like I imagined...that would prolly make em heavier...like 1.2lb dumbells which would be completely unnacceptable.

This has inspired me to purchase the pink dumbells and post some instructional vids of me doing lifts with them. In a very serious manner of course...sweating like crazy...maybe edit it and insert farting noises and such...too good.

Of course they do. They are for the older women who sit around watching Opra all day and eating Bon Bons. They got the way to little spandex pants on with the nice matching head band. They are the ones chugging away on the treadmill at approx. 1.4 MPH (and sweating). And they are the ones who think Fried chicken is a health product. Gotta love my mom.

Never use them ever. Youll do your sets, forget youre holding them and walk home with them. Then youll have pink 1lb dumbells in your house and everyone will laugh at me.

    Uh...laugh at YOU.

Seriously, what is the point of anything below about 5-10 pounds? Just pick up a goddamned book or bottle of water and use that instead if you only want to use a pound. Don't waste your money on a gym membership for that shit.

    exactly.

I had to explain to a lady why we use "heavy" weights when we exercise....(she did whatever we were doing at least 12-15 reps cleanly, it just wasn't easy)

^ True. My nephew who just turned 5 lifts more than that. When he comes to my place and sees all my weights he gets excited and wants to start lifting. It's funny. When he was 4 my mom bought him 2 (3lb) plastic db's but he said, "those are too small, grandma, I want to lift that. (pointing at the plastic 10lb db my mom had out. So then he goes over and clean and presses the db over his head! We didn't want him to hurt himself so my mom said to him, "Buddy, stick with the lighter weights for now, and when you get older I will let you lift the heavier ones, kids your age are not supposed to lift so much." So when he turned 5, I took him to the store and bought him an old school db bar and a few 2.5lb and 5lb weight plates and collars that he plays with when he comes to visit. Last week he was squating down trying to pick up a 25 pound plate that was lying on my for before I stopped him (I'm sure he only weighs 30 pounds!). I keep telling him that it's not about lifting the big weights, that doesn't mean anything, it's about lifting with good form and not overdoing it. The kid is an animal!

Put one in each hand and then throw punches for 3 minutes, take one minute rest then do it again ( at least 100 punches per 3 minutes) . My bet is you will have a new found respect for the 1lb DB son.

Right because I know lots of boxers who specifically request that for their training the dumbells must be 1lb and pink.

But yeah, I have done a little bag work in that fashion with no weights in my hands and it floored me. 45 seconds of all out punching with 45 seconds rest, repeat....very tough.

But don't they make gloves that weigh close to a pound?? Why not use those instead of pink dumbells?? Now you can do some more functional training like actually hitting something with the added weight...

All I was getting at was that people make jokes about women working out with uber light, pink dumbells...and then I saw PINK dumbells that weighed a pound...*note: every other dumbell was a different color*

A real man could give a shit about the color son.
Yes they make gloves from 10-20oz but why be limited to just using that
I love that my gym has 1-5LB dumbells, any color will do for me.

Thai boxers wear a lot of pink!

I would love a set of pink dumbells in my gym, however we did just get a new set of chrome ones that runs from 1 - 10 kg.

I am freaking injured so using a lot of these baby girlie weights right now!

I do train in a proper BBing gym. Very few women venture into the free weights area.

Very few women go to my gym
