Question about squats

I was in the gym earlier today doing my squats, I go down below parallel, a girl came up to me afterwards and said I was doing them wrong because my knees are bending too much while I squat. I can't really take an actual picture, but my typical squats are like this: http://www.building-muscle101.com/images/squat.jpg, granted, a moment later I saw her doing her squats and they were horrible quarter squats, she was telling me something her trainer told her. But it kind of made me wonder, isn't natural for the knees to bend a little more the further you go down?

Do some research for your self on the subject. You will find conflicting info depending on the sources of the info. Yes, your ROM is greater that parallel. Listen to your body. If you have the flexibility and do not have any issues (read as pain) in your knees when going past parallel then go for it. I am not real flexible, however I go past parallel. Not ATG as I am not quite that flexible. I have knees that hurt when I run. So I do not run. Squatting past parallel does not cause any pain in my knees. So I squat past parallel.

I believe TOM and Foreman teach the class.

I'm more comfortable going past parallel, I've found that my knees don't actually hurt the further I go down. The motion itself has felt very natural for my body, so I've kept up with it, and I'm seeing better results. One guy told me my form was great, but then when the girl told me that I bend my knees too much it had me thinking, but I can see that its a good thing I didn't listen to her.

Ok....I rarely take lower body work advice from anyone...as I consider "in the know" when it comes to proper form and execution....I teach it. But I definitely wouldn't listen to a girl using poor form....come on....common sense there buddy.

How else would you squat deep without bending your knees more?? Isn't that kind of the point of this exercise??
