    Erm..........................

    What is strength training?

I know I should post another thread for this but i cant b assed. The bench @ the gym where I train, the rack holding the barbell above the bench is closer together than @ my old gym , so when you take a weight off the end of the barbell it falls off the rack and it embarassed the hell out of me. Any ideas?

Strength training is training with the goal of gaining strength...

Any ideas? Cus its getting both annoying and embarassin, Im used to a bench where the bar is held at the end by I guess u could call them collars/rests. I dont know the anatomy of a bench sorry. But this one is closer together, sorta like the bench Louis Ferrigno used in pumpin iron.

ask someone to unload the other side while you unload one side.

stand up after your set, grab the bar and set it down on the floor and unload it.

    go to a different gym.

(Probably what I would do). Take the weights off and if it tips and makes noise then say fuck it and don't take shit from anyone.

    go to a different gym.

what kind of gym do you go to where they have benches whose racks are so close together that you have to simultaneously take off plates from each side? most gyms i've been to have racks that are pretty wide..............it seems like too much of an inconvience, i'd join another gym it thats a possible option for you

Its close to where I live the membership is cheap and everything is on more floor, rather than walking up and down stairs to the locker rooms/ weights and cardio.

Then it looks like you'll need someone to help you unload - but personally I would change gyms - sounds a bit crappy

Are you taking all the weights off one side? Let's say for example you have 2 25s on each side. Do you take them both off one side and then both of the other? If so, try taking one off each side so it stays balanced better.

If that doesn't work, instead of 2 25s on each end, try 5 10s and take them off one on each side. That way you only have 10 pounds unbalancing the bar at any time. Actually, you can take one off one side, then 2 off the other and then 2 off the first side, etc... this still leaves you with only a 10 pound difference from each side. If that doesn't work, try 10 5s or 20 2.5s :P

I have the same type of bench, if you only have 2 25s/35s/45s left on the bar, slide the bar all the way so that the plate (one side) touches the rack, than take off the 25 (the side wich has the long side of the bar), then it shouldn't tip over.
