is it ok to do cardio on lifting days? i've read mix things. i've heard it was ok but to do it 6-8 hours apart.

You can, I posted this question on Frank Shamrock's forum and he said it was fine. If you look at Matt Hughes workout routine (on his site) he lifts and then runs for 30 minutes right after, every week day. Sometimes he runs again at night.

There is nothing wrong with it necessarily. I prefer to do the workouts on different days if possible. If it isn't possible, then do what you have to do.
