    What to miss-meal or training?

Sometimes I finish work so late it gets to the point where I'll have to skip going home and fixng a meal etc and head straight to the gym. This can mean missing the heavier meal (main dinner, high cal) I have when I get home, preparing and having the shakes (drinks- not as in parkinsons) immediately after training and sometimes depending on the time, even another meal . By the time I've got home, I have missed the opportunity to eat 2-3 meals due to the time training and getting to and from the gym. I try and make up for it when I 'm home but that means staying up later therefore later times till I get to sleep and less recovery time. Other times, I'll just think there's no point in rushing for the gym,so i'll just skip it for that day and simply concentrate on the remaining meals of the day. I already take three meals pre-packed everyday to work so don't wan to add a dinner or shakes etc to that.

So the dilemma is, what's best to miss out on if you have to:

    A meal(s) or a training session?

If you already take 3 meals a day and don't want to add another then... I guess I'm just confused. Truth is, the entire part of my day after work is usually work out, then cooking dinner and for the next day, then about 6-7 hours of sleep. Probably not idea, but it's the best I can do. But miss a meal or a work out? I'd rather miss a little sleep.

I don't think I'm fully aware of your situation, but these might be valid solutions:

    - take shakes or compact meals to work. Things like protein shakes, or sandwiches (maybe with fish/chicken/meat/eggs on them). Worst case scenario, pack a dinner replacement meal.
    - if it takes long to travel to and from your gym, you could consider working out at home. You can always do cardio at home.
    - work out before work.

How about you just bring another meal with you to work that you can eat when you finish so that you don't have to compromise? I always try to be prepared.

ive been carrying tins of tuna, rice crackers, and water around in the car. low fat protien and carbs there straight away if i need it. works well, although it's a bit cumbersome, and eating the tuna too close to a workout didn't go well.

I work in a grocery store, but I still miss meals. LOL... I've grabbed a few bags of jerky to get me by.

In my situation, if push came to shove, I'd skip the workout - lesser of two evils since I'm having trouble gaining crucial bodyweight w/ my physical job requirements. But, I always carry protein shakes and bars to work to fill in the gaps.

That has to be some of the dumbest advice I've read on here lately.
