    Front Squats

You know how with back squats there is some initial pain in the traps from the weight? I have the same pain in my front delts when doing front squats. Will the pain go away as I progress or should I just forget about it and suck it up?

You could place a towel over your delts. Helps a bit.

I can't do front squats, but I think it will be the same as with back squats.

I THINK this is caused from pressure/weight being placed ON the delts...I felt this kind of soreness when I did then BBer style with my arms crossed over the bar...now that I can do them with a clean grip and I squat more upright, I haven't felt the soreness at all....

Just buy you a pad. They arent expensive. I remember back in high school they had a blue thing that sat on your traps and wrapped around to your shoulders. They worked awesome!

Hands are like that instead of crossed. It's what your arms look like when you catch a clean.

I used to find them akward too, but I forced myself to continue doing front squat and now it's fine.

When I first started doing front squats I experienced discomfort and they felt pretty awkward. Now I have no problems with them whatsoever and I love to do them. Remember to keep your shoulders high and tight. Funny, everyone just adapts to it.

Here is a thread I made on it a while back,

I can't tell from that photo, but are the hands to the inside or outside of the shoulders?

    Just outside...

I seem to notice it's different for some people, their exact grip....I for one am only flexible enough to grip the bar just outide my shoulders....whereas I've seen some hold it further out.

I set my hands where my natural arm flexion allows them to be.

It can hurt and bruise at first, but keep at it and you'll be fine. If it continues for more than a few sessions, you're probably doing something wrong.
