    Weird Idea

    ONE LIFT AT A TIME?

Need some expert opinions about this.I've been reading some of Waterbury's ideas and techniques especially his thoughts on "high Frequency" training. This led me to wonder if it would work to say do bench press one morning (just a couple sets- as if you are going to be doing a full workout) go to work come home crank out a couple sets of BB rows, maybe next evening in between work and "kid-time" bull thru some sets of deads ect. ect. with say maybe sat and/or sunday just relaxing with no lifts .In other words to have no "planned workout" but instead " A lift here and there" wich I know SOUNDS lazy but could if done right result in the same or better volume week to week.obviously one would want to alternate lifts in such a way to let the previously worked muscles recover so deads aftyer rows is actually not the best example as say military press after the "evening of BB Rows"..
I've often toyed with this idea as I work massive hours , raise two kids, and am very involved in several civic obligations that keep my time at a premium. So far I DONT do this opting instead for 3x/wk full body/compound movement WO's, but saying that it can be difficult to accomplish all I need to accomplish in any given 24 hr period (and still SLEEP) is putting it mildly.Thoughts?

I think up to a point, separating stuff by that much would be detrimental. If you factor in warming up each time, and stretching afterward, it wouldn't be a 15 minute workout at a time anyway. I am not a big fan of splits, and that would essentially be a split. I like doing full body because each lift leads into the other, this would take that away.

    IMO, bad idea.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

I kind of like the idea to a certain point. Like Dale said though, micromanaging your workouts too much is going to be an issue if you plan on warming up properly.

Generally though, I think short workouts are great. 2-3 lifts at a time might be a better way to go about something like this though.

Sounds like an interesting idea which could have a lot of potential if done right. However as Cowpimp says I think it would be best to do 2-3 excersizes per workout for make it a bit efficient. This works great for me at the moment, I usually only do 4 excersizes per day, with one of my push days doing only 3.
