Hey guys, I just wanted to throw this out there: I'm doing a major research paper for my Leisure/Sport Management Research Methods class, and my topic is on the benefits of a home gym vs. a membership gym. I'll probably be posting multiple topics/surveys. After reading on this forum for several months, I feel comfortable asking you guys because there are some incredibly well informed people in here. This is just an initial post telling you guys so you don't get annoyed with me right away lol. Thanks.
what kind of studies do you have on this topic?
what is your hypothesis?

Currently I'm pretty limited to my school's library, which has pretty much nothing recent pertaining to the topic. The internet is my best friend at this point, and I'll be conducting my own studies with various surveys broken down into subcategories such as Age and Gender. My hypothesis, well, there really isn't much of a hypothesis in that it's a comparative research paper, and based on the information, I would decide which has the greater benefit. I'm currently questioning whether or not to focus on the membership side due to my career goals being to manage a health/fitness center.
so you are going to compare the benefit of training at a gym to training at home? You are going to be comparing how many people train at home compared to at a gym? What is the reserach paper trying to show?
Use google scholar to find abstracts. Pubmed.com is good, most of the abstract there will come up on google scholar.
There have been several done on group training at a center compared to home based training for elderly folks. I don't know how much has been done for younger people though.
