    reps

hey i just started working out like a day ago and i have some questions:

    1) I wanna build visible muscle so how many reps & sets should i do a day with 30 lbs.(bicep curl)?

    2) is it true that you build muscle faster if you workout your arms one day nd then the next day your legs and the day after that your arms again?

    3) if i do bicep curls everyday will i permanently lose muscle?

    4) How long should i workout for? like is there a certain amount of time?

    5) should my arms or, which ever body part i'm working out, hurt after i workout that day? nd if so how long duz it take for the pain to kick in?

First of, do what P-funk says. P-funk is always right. (No, really, he is.)

The sets and reps shouldn't be based on the weight. You should base the weight on the sets and the reps. If you're a beginner most exercises are probably going to be 3x12-15. (3 sets and 12-15 reps.) Refrain from using heavy weights that require you to go in the 1-5 rep range for now.

    2) is it true that you build muscle faster if you workout your arms one day nd then the next day your legs and the day after that your arms again?
It all depends on your program. You could train with a split program, training some muscle groups one day, and some on other days, or you could do a full body routine and train all your muscles every workout. I suggest you do a fullbody workout 3 times a week.

    3) if i do bicep curls everyday will i permanently lose muscle?
You can't permanently lose muscle and bicep curls are a crappy exercise. Stick with the main compound movements for now, exercises that use several joints, like bench presses, squats, dead lifts, rows, dips and pullups.

    4) How long should i workout for? like is there a certain amount of time?
I suggest you work out 3 times a week on nonconsecutive days. You should train no longer than 1 hour, excluding warmup and stretching.

    5) should my arms or, which ever body part i'm working out, hurt after i workout that day? nd if so how long duz it take for the pain to kick in?
They shouldn't hurt. You could have sore muscles, but sore muscles don't mean you had a good workout. Sore muscles and muscle growth (hyperthropy) are unrelated. In time, you will learn the difference between sore muscles and 'real' pain. Real pain is bad, but sore muscles are oke. You can and should minimize the soreness of your muscles by doing a dynamic stretching serie at the beginning of your workout, and a static stretching serie at the end of your workout.
Bolded is mine. Now go read the stickies and post any questions you have and your routine in this thread.

    Good luck!
