    Muscle Gain, Fat Loss?

Do you believe that it is possible for an experienced weightlifter (intermediate to advanced) to gain muscle mass and lose bodyfat at the same time without drugs?

Of Course! It's slower than straight bulking or cutting, but I, my trainees, and the hundreds I advise do it all of the time!

Believe in yourself. YOU CAN DO IT. It's all in your head and of course what you put in your mouth . Work hard and watch what you eat and you'll achieve that goal of being Mr. or Mis. Olympia one day. By the way... Im visiting Toronto this Sat. Can't wait.

To be clear, this depends. If you are in decent shape, then it is a very slow, difficult process. But if you have a lot of weight to lose, in fact it is not that difficult (relatively speaking).

Example, when I first started lifting (at 18) I weighed 240 (and couldn't bench my bodyweight). After six months I weight 220 and could bench over 300.

But then, the question did say intermediate to advance, here, Princy is right!

If intermediate to advanced means the point where you have plateaued (after breaking many plateaus) Every ounce of muscle is gained with difficulty. Controlling your diet enough to keep the fat off but having enough food to gain muscle is almost impossible except for those with are really anal about it, and have the time to be anal. i.e. Unemployed or standard slacking college student, pro athelete. So is it possible? It's possible my computer will catch in fire today.

I feel it is almost impossible because to lose fat you must cut back calories, carbs & fat. I have been told that you need all those ingrediants to build muscle ! Just my 2cents. I do beleive what TWIN PEAK SAID THOUGH. If you are overwieght & have alot of fat to loose then building muscle & loosing fat is possible. I do alot of natural bodybuilding & wigh 199 lbs in the offseason. When I get on stage for a show & see how much weight I have lost , its depressing. I usually weight 155 lbs to 160lbs . For overweight people it can be done but for the average person it is virtually impossible without taking something illegal !

I said no, not because its not possible but because its like taking the long way around.
If you had said a begginner or someone with a higher BF% then that would be different.

the longer you've been training and the older you are the harder it will be especially as hormone levels naturally decrease, even for us hardcore trainers. it's a long and slow process but it can be done. if one is trying to get back to where they once where of course thanks to muscle memory etc it will be easier.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Of course, more meat burns more calories to SUSTAIN the meat.

Plus working out burns calories alone, lifting weights + cardio is a great way to burn fat faster than simply doing cardio.
