hAVE TEST DEFICIENCY, LOSING WEIGHT. gOT TEST AND PUT IT BACK ON. HOLDING PATTERN FOR LIFE.
I am conducting a research paper on weight training in modern society and would greatly appreciate some input from the male readers of this forum.
What I need to find out is what kind of people are involved in weight training today. In other words, who is the typical weight lifter?
Things I'd like to know are:
Your age
Your goals (do you want to gain muscle, lose weight, compete, get better for sports etc.?)
How long have you been weight training?
What is the biggest problem(s) you've had achieving your goals?
I'll go ahead and put forth my own stats -
Age: 20
Goals: Add 60lbs of muscle in next couple of years with low body fat, Vin Diesel look. Started at 135lbs 2 months ago, gained about 15lbs so far.
How long I've been training: 2 months
Biggest problem I've had: Getting my diet together, cooking enough food to last more than 1 day :P

Goals: Strength (Absolute and relative), athleticism, health, and vanity. I am actually quite happy with my physique, but gaining mass definitely helps a lot in the strength department; a means to my end.
Training Age: A little over 3 years consistently. I played around a bit in high school when I wrestled and took a weight training class, but then there was a gap of several years before I took it seriously.
Biggest Obstacle: I feel I've done quite well so far, but sometimes fitting all my planned workouts in when I'm working and going to school is tough. Also, getting good quality sleep is hard. I'm a personal trainer, so I work very unusual hours.

Yes, the vanity. With me, there's a deep seeded mindset that I have to be superior at any endeavor I choose. A superior body gets you noticed - immediately. That commands respect and admiration. It kinda buys you time until your other attributes become apparent. I'm a bit introverted by choice, but not anti-social. Judgemental. Perhaps, a perfectionist.
At the end of the day... I just want to have fun - and measure my accomplishments by the primary thing that I have most control over... my body. It's simply a challenge. I love to compete!

My goal is to add mass+strength, release my aggression/anger, I enjoy being stronger than other ppl. I am also going to try my hardest to play football again, Its going to be very hard since I will be attending Alabama but as long as I give it my all I will be satisfied.
I have been training for 18months I have probably had 5 of those months ruined by various factors.
Biggest Obstacles
-hanging with ppl who drink or smoke weed too often hamper my results
-not recording my progress or planning workouts properly
Rewards
-when this summer came ppl at my work noticed I was much bigger and that made me feel good
-whenever I am in a period of time that I am totally dedicated I feel great about myself and my life.
-On days I workout I have an easier time with my schoolwork.

Goals- Put on as much mass as possible right now and looking to cut down in January. My overall goals are to bench 400, squat 500, and deadlift 550. Doing all of this with low bf. Of course its going to be ridiculously tough!
Weight training for- I have been at this for 11 years now. I started whenever I was 14 and have never stopped, but about a year all together (some injuries)
Biggest Problem- Keeping a low bf.

Goals: To add more lean body mass, currently 182 lbs, looking to get to at least 210 within the next few years. Aiming for a 400lb bench, and 500 + squat and deadlift before my lifting days are over
Training period: Around 4 years, although the first 2 were not very efficient and I lacked the knowledge and understanding to reach my potential, past year or so has been a very good year of training, especially the last 7 months.
Problems: I lift alone, at home, no spotters which can cause problems and no squat rackI have to implement somewhat at the moment until i get a squat rack.

When i was starting out it was actually figuring out what works and what doesnt work. Now, its keeping my diet in order. Sometimes i just cannot be bothered to eat this meal or that meal, so i skip it.
And like many people dealing with occaisional injuries can throw a spanner in the works.
I agree with Valias, also: why just the guys?
