I never understood the purpose of specific "neck machines" some gyms have... Maybe rehab for neck injuries? My neck looks rediculously big when I'm under strain (squats or DL's) and I never bother with that stuff... I'd say if anything, shrugs, but that's probably not a "neck exercise" in the sense you're looking for.

unless you have a specific reason, i.e. a sport like football, I see no reason to work you neck.

I must add though that a strong neck makes a man look strong.

Nothing worse than seeing a pencil neck with a huge body.....correction, skinny legs are second to me.

in high school I used to use a neck machine, I also used a head harness that you hang weights on.

Your traps are the main muscles in your neck.

Dumbell side raise, bentover raise, upright row, and shurgs all work the upper traps.

Hey there are various neck crunches u can do, but one of the best neck exercises is,
you get on all 4's, start with ur head all the way down, but keep ur back straight.
Have ur buddy push down on ur head, just enough so it makes it difficult to push ur head up (only using ur neck) After a couple reps ur neck should be getting burned. Neck crunches are relaly good 2.

Exactly, can you imagine Howie Long with a pencil neck.

If a guy has a great chin or jaw line the strong neck makes the guy look more rugged or handsome.

Look at Jim Carry, great jaw line but a pencil neck.....he's funny and looks the part.

Used to be wrestler friend was showing us this plank type neck exercise. You do a plank on the ground but only support yourself with your forehead and toes, it is kind of painful
