I have a problem to solve about working out

I am a shift worker, my shifts are 12hr and usually run 2on and 2 off, 3 on and 3 off. The problem is that i want to be able to go to the gym more then once every 5 days. Shooting for once every 3 days would be more like it. The problem is that one of these 3 days would be the same day that i work, meaning that i would have to go after work, yeah i know what ur thinking but its my only answer. I have to design a workout plan that will work out for this once every 3 day workout plan. Got me stumped, use mainly heavy weights and takes sometimes up to 5 days to recover as it is now. So what im looking at is rewritting my whole plan. What i need to know is some sugestions on what sort of plan to create. Keep in mind that no workouts in a row, once every 3 days is all that i can do.

    Hey-
I feel your pain...I too work fuq'ed shit job.
12 hour, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, three off.
Right now I am from 6pm to 6am.
I usualy get up around 2pm, eat something light, wait an hour, go to the gym. Usually only have enough time to hit one body part per work out.
I usually hit the gym on the days I have to work. Usually get tobusy on days off, finishing moving, errands..sleeping....
Do not know if you have th esame access I do, but if weater is god, can jump out during shift and go run for my cardio during the night.

Next week I go back to the day shift...if I can drag my fat ass up and do cardio 1st thing...then go to work, the go to gym afterwards..

I just try and make sure I do opposing muscle groups, after each other. It sux, but I try and make do.

    Hope helps a little?
    later.

besides the 8 hours of sleep that you need what are you doing with the other 4 hours. you only need 1 hour to do 1 large body part and 1 small plus 15-20 minutes of cardio after.

by the way Nova Scotia kicks ass ! I was there several times while in the navy. from what I remember it was a blast..
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Yeah i see what u mean but i have to find a spot in between the days that i work which makes that a problem cuz i would have to go to the gym right after my 12 hr shift, give u an example.
Fri, sat and sun i work, mon off tue off, wed on thur on, then i have fri, sat , sun off, then it goes back to work mon, tue and so on. Now u can see my problem. Before i use to just go to the gym the first day that i had off. Dont help that its over 1 hr away, long story i wont get into it. heh, So what i want to end up doing is train every 3 days, that way i can get my level of training up to what i want it at. Training light is not for me one bit.
