two recent threads on overtraining.
Read the sticky topics in this section for info on how to put together a decent program. 5 days a week, im guessing all in one lump, isnt good.

I just read this article. Is this purely an opinion? Ive been doing 16 sets per bodypart and a 5 day split for the past couple years..am I destroying myself?

Hmm the first link was a pretty damn good read. Ive never seen it before, but its written perfectly for beginners to understand.

I haven't read a single thing in this site that suggests my original supposition that "less, but intense" isn't best.
I'm old though.. haven't finished a Cowpimp workout yet. LOL

The biggest guys I know train the most volume, and they train hard. That isn't just from reading, that is real world, in front of my eyes, experience from the gyms I've been to. This is how sarcoplasmic hypertrophy works, it is an adaptation to volume training.
