    After a lay-off...

I haven't trained regularly since August. Since then I have dropped about 15lbs due to stress, illness, lack of proper nutrition, etc. I have now resumed training again. Right now I'm just doing body weight stuff...push-ups, crunches, pull-ups, sissy squats. Just developing my fitness base before I go into a heavier routine.
When should I start a journal of my progress? The first day I hit the weights regularly or after I develop my strength base more? My thoughts are I feel as a noobie fitness professional I should be extremely meticulous about my training, but I dunno if my ego can handle how weak and pathetic I have become in four months.
Hell, at least it's not the 4 year layoff I had between '01 and '05.

    Thoughts?

My first thought would be quit taking long times off. 4 years is crazy.

Definitly start a journal soon, it offers good feedback and nice encouragment.

I would start journaling your training now. It will help to keep you accountable. Also, there are a lot of great things you can do with BW training....be creative...do interval work and be intense about it and you can raise your fitness level up pretty well.

I'm going through the same thing. I've been out for 6 months due to injury but I've been back now for 4 weeks.

Always keep track of your progress, either here or in a journal at home. Just like P said it helps with accountability, and motivation.

Well, yah. Damn video games, I get so sucked into them. They are the only thing in this lifetime I have been addicted to. Curse you, World of Warcraft!!!

Muscle memory is the best thing since 2 hydrogens met 1 oxygen.

    Thanks for the advice
