Senior citizen at work, don't bugg me.
Whenever I feel the need.
once every 6 months, 1 week - 2 weeks
Well what about never. Saturday and Sunday are enough. I like food way to much, I can’t afford taking a week off.

when ever I feel the need. I usually take off for 2-3 months a year to give my body and CNS a complete break.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

usually around every 6 months.
2weeks off out of 5 months of training

When I am feeling mentally and physically drained. It varies anywhere from 3 to 6 months.
Every 8-12 weeks i take 5-7 days off !!!

Sometimes I am forced to take a week off, like when I'm doing an academic program, traveling, on vacation, etc...Usually those are my only weeks off. I don't think I could ever want to take a week off for the hell of it, or even to recover. But I do see a benefit to breaks...it can really remotivate your workouts and get you some nice improvements.
I usually do an unload week every 8-12 weeks. I take 1-2 weeks a year off completely.
Whenever I feel it's time for a break OR even better a holidayOR dreaded illness strikes
Generally every 2-3 months I guess, just listen to your body and hear what it is saying to you!

Approx. every 2-4 months, or unless I get injured.

My body tells me when I need a break.

"When I use the word intensity I mean the ability to continue past and through the pain barrier where your mind pleads to stop and in fact convinces your body that you have hit failure, but you push through. How far you push through that barrier is the level of intensity with which you train." -- Twin Peak
Depends what i'm training for. If cutting i take a week off at about the 8 week mark. If bulking it ussually about every 21/2-3 months 1 weeks off.
everytime I go on vacations.
The answer to this question can vary quite substancially depending on the circumstances i.e., training method used, unexpected injuries, unexpected overtraining, mental and physical stress, work related, vacation etc. Having said that I myself never usually plan a week off but it usually for some reason or another happens every 6 months so i voted for that.
I do when I go on climbing trips and such. It feels good to to a break from haevy lifting but I hate the way my clothes hang on my body, its a mind fuck![]()
Climb high, climb far; your goal the sky, your aim, the stars
I agree, this is the same for me, when I feel the need to have a break, I take it.Originally posted by Fade99
Whenever I feel the need.
Walk it off...
Took off this week in fact.
Was feeling tired, unmotivated, and fuzzy in the head. Wasn't my diet, I know that, so I felt I was close to overtraining. Been getting alot of calf cramps at night too, even after eating 2 banannas before bed.
If all my joints hurt if I don't do stretches every 10 minutes is it time for a break? They actually seem to get a bit worse now that I haven't been in the gym for 2 days...![]()
my biggest problem is when I take one week off it turns into two weeks. I need to work out regularly or I loose my motivation.
