When I lift in the gym I'm in there for 90 mins usually. On Wednesdays, 2 hours. I hate wednesdays. Then again, I dont do anything really active like jiu jitsu afterwards.
Ok, usually my "lifting" portion of my workouts are no more than 45 mins, sometimes even 30 mins minimum. Is this 2 short???
If i lift about 2 to 2.5 hours before jiu jitsu (mild conditioning and drills and than sparring), would that jiu jitsu hinder my workout i had earlier?? i know many people who lift and train jiujitsu/muay thai on the same day and they dont seem to have a problem. They just need a good 1 to 2 hours for resting and a nice meal.

Training shouldn't really exceed 60 min. After that point it starts to become counter-productive.
I love it when a plan comes together.
I workout before jiu jitsu all the time. i feel better working out before BJJ, but it depends entirely on what your doing in your workouts. 90min is excessive
you shouldn't train for more than 45-60min.

ok, i see.
yeah today my lifting was like 40-45 mins, not relaly sure
and i did jiu jitsu like 1 hr after it, i felt GREAT
it was my first day bak in like 2 weeks and still performed excellently.
I sought advice for the same question, and I was told by a trainer that you should do max 4 different excercises, max 5 sets, for each muscle group with no more than a 90 second break in between sets. But you split the muscle groups up according to certain days, i.e., thrusday-legs, friday-core etc..This trainer really loves his job. However long you stay in the gym, make it effecient by having a plan, and keep track by using a journal to keep from under or overtraining. I guess???
Welcome - Take a look at the stikies above. There are different types of resistance triaining routines and some guides to help you plan one out for your particular goals. I noticed you posted a question about circuit training. You will likely find your answer in the stickies.
On a side note, your diet will have much more of an impact on your fat loss than any kind of training will. Go to the Diet section and read the stickies there for some diet guidance - maybe carb cycling will meet your goals.
