Dean Karnazes Interview (Outside Magazine)

OM:
Does it have to be painful to be fulfilling?

DK:
"Western culture has things a little backwards right now. We think that if we had every comfort available to us, we'd be happy. We equate comfort with happiness. And now we're so comfortable we're miserable."

I think he was talking about a multi-day race, ultramarathons, where runners run back to back marathons over a period of days.

He did it non stop, without rest. The guy is an unbelieveable endurance freak. He also ran 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days - in a row.

They had a log of his 350 mile run and he was running at points while basically asleep.

People who do ultras are not human. Can you imagine running with Dean Karnazes? He would probably be like: "You suck, you call yourself a runner. You think you are tired, hahahha. You don't deserve, to be tired. You are shit and I am a god, eat my dust sucker!" Then he would give you the finger. As you wobble home, you would be thinking to yourself... that guy is a real asshole...if I only had a gun.
