Dumb Question

I want to start adding deadlifts to my routine. I realize this is pretty much a full body routine, but puts most emphasis on back and legs. Therefore does it make more sense to incorporate this into my back day or leg day?

Some people put it on back day, some people put it on leg day. I used to do it with my back exercises, but since i switched it to leg day i've found it fits far better there.

if you do heavy squatting on leg day and then try and incorperate a heavy deadlift routine in there it will pretty much take you to your limits. If your leg day is pretty lax i think its a good idea to throw it in there but if you are doing a full leg day (quads, hams, calves) i dont think its reasonable to try and toss deadlifts in there as well. maybe try restructuring your workout split so that you have a quad dominant/ ham dominant leg variation. This way you can have squats on one day (or leg press) and then deadlifts on another day.

I designed my split so I wouldn't have to do squats and deadlifts on the same day. I basically use my entire body for each day in each microcycle, so there's no reason for me to hit similar movements more than once per workout. But my goals are toward strength anyway.

Back. It hits my lower back and traps more than my legs.
