We put up the weight for squats from last week and when i finished there was a bit of pain then on smith squats we put up our weight again and when i finished that FRIKEN bullshit amount of pain in the lower back!! Yes, it was probably form, the smith can be bad for you if your foot placement isn't right.

I'd stick with free squats, good form and see how it goes.
    Cool

when you say "Smith Squats" your talking about back squats using the Smith maching right ?

if so do front squats on the smith it is the exact same excercise as using the hack squat machine.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Front squats we dont have a hack squat machine so i put the bar on my shoulders move feet forward so that when im at the bottom of the squat my back is straight (vertical) and my legs are at 90' i dont go any lower than that.

the safety machanism on our smith is a thing where you actually twist the bar the weights are loaded on and they have a hook on them. Not too bad an idea but i'd hate to have to twist the thing to catch on the bottom of a squat. Heaps good for doing bench press buy yourself!!
Does my form i described sound ok??
