Lift solo are with a partner?

Do you prefer to lift by yourself, with a partner or with a group of people? I used to lift by myself for years. It has its pros and cons. I now lift with somebody and enjoy it a lot. He is new to weight training so he listens. I hate lifting with people who think they know what they are talking about when they really don't know anything. What do you guys prefer?

I lift solo. If I could find someone who could push me (a Stewart, Double D, Camaro, ArchAngel, Jersey, etc) locally who I could lift with, I do it in an instant.

In the past several years, there have been two people who tried to workout with me. They lasted 2 weeks.

I put on my music, and I go into my own world. If everything is well, I trance into my own world. I often workout too long because I lose track of time. If I need a spot I ask my buddy at the desk.

I lift alone generally. I haven't lifted with anyone in years. Occasionally I get a workout in with a friend, but it is rare that our schedules match up. It's hard to find someone with similar goals, motivation, and schedule all wrapped in one.

Don't have a training partner, but would like one, might just give me a little motivational boost. None of my friends are into lifting, besides one, and he lives miles away.

Although, I find I can get into the 'zone' of peak focus when training solo.

I train by myself 97.5% of the time. I prefer to train by myself because I can get in the groove and keep track of my RI's well and such. I don't mind training with others though, but it depends on what they are like. I liked training with one of my friends because he was new and it was fun to see him progress. If they are motivated and don't talk too much they can be fine.

I think training with someone with very similar goals/program/high motivation would be awesome. I have yet to do this though.

I train by myself, always have done, trained with a friend a few times but he isn't very consistent with his workouts. Only problem of training alone is the lack of spotter.

I would say thats the biggest killer. A friend can go to the gym with you and do a entirely different workout OR just do a movement or two with you while doing other things. As long as hes there to spot you, (and spot you correctly) hes doing his job. Talking is ok, laughing is worse, but Id still have ALL of that as long as it doesnt interfere with the rests...or Id hope he didnt make me laugh by blasting out a loud fucking fart on my first 315lb bench rep.

I normally am alone.

I have done both extensively and I can say that I really like both. They each have their own place

Providing you have a good partner of course, which I have been fortunate enough to have some pretty decent ones.

I prefer to workout alone. I find it's much easier to keep my concentration, mind my RI's, and get in and out of the gym in a timely manner. Finding a spot sucks though...

I worked out alone for a long time - now, working out with a partner - I wouldn't have it any other way, twice the motivation!

Working with a partner is great for form. We tell each other if our back is arching or we're doing something wrong. There is also added motivation, becayse you don't want to quit before the other person does.

I never liked working out with other people... for one thing- in my experience it takes 2x as long. A long time ago I used to workout with a friend of mine but his goals were different than mine and her was always late- -I hate when people are late- show up on time or don't bother coming at all...
Also, I don't train at a gym anymore, I train at home.
The only way I would go back to training with a partner is if I got serious with olympic lifting- other than that I don't think it would be worth it. Saying that, I do like when you train with someone who is heavier than you or can just lift more than you because you see them lifting a weight that is heavier than you can do and you think to yourself- I bet I can lift more today.

That's a big thing that power lifters suggest that younger/weaker lifters to do. Like me. I wish I had some hardcore PL-ers to lift with.

What I love is the workout groups.

I see these 3 women almost every morning doing these workouts while they talk about their lives. They are hardly doing any intensity, not setting appropriate volume levels, never breaking a sweat, etc. I hate them.

Then you got the 3-4 idiots that always hog the leg press machine. All of them have belts, use every fucking plate in the building, and since one of them is a huge juicer and a Mr. FL winner, the others do as much volume as he does and they never ever grow. Those jerkoffs look the fucking same since the first day I saw them 2 years ago. I hate them.

I am just a happy camper!

I prefer working out alone. More focused, more efficient with RI's, etc.

Plus after working out at home for a year or two, i've never actually used a spot for anything, ever.

I used to work work out with my friend; however, he got in some trouble and is now spending 90 days in jail. I like a partner because you are constantly competing with that person and you always have a spotter. However, the positive side to lifting solo is that you can lift whenever it is most convenient. I also noticed that I am more focused lifting alone because I don't ahve anyone to talk to inbetween lifts or sets. Both sides have there ups and downs...

the main reason i lift by myself is because im stubborn and im very confident in my routines so i dont like bothering with a partner that is probly going to disagree with me on a certain exercise or two

alone, doing my workout takes good 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs. I'm not gonna try to double that anytime soon. Seeing groups of 3 is crazy..

I've worked out with up to 4 other people. That doesn't mean we are all doing the same thing, we are just all at the gym at that time. That was a rare occurance, though.

For the most part I have one or two guys that go with me, but one of them doesn't train with weights. I don't care if I train by myself but I don't mind a partner. I like having a spot on the bench press and I've taken a liking to weighted push ups and I need someone to hold a plate on my back.

working out with my brother is far better than doing it alone
