how many big excercises per day

by big, i mean compound, dips, bench, squats, stuff like that....

then how many isolation excercises should i do?

maybe this question is too broad and deserves to burn in endless flames..... but im just curious

I workout 5-6 days per week. run between 20-30 minutes each day.

usually rest on weds and some saturdays.

    im 6'1 185lbs.

i usually do dips, pullups bench and squats in one day. and then other days shoulder presses, dips, push presses and shrugs and other days i do curls w. ez-curl, curls with straight bar, headcrushers, kickbacks, chin ups, standing overhead triceps excercise (forget the name)

i actually try to do squats 4 days a week... and then ab work 2 days per week.

i wanna add more iso excercises though, i feel like ive been doing mostly compound excercises.... i really only workout b/c i want a 6 pack. so when i run i do HIIT each time.

I know what your saying, but yes it is very broad. I like to do 3-4 compound exercises, but its not set in stone. It all depends on what your doing whether your lifting for strength, size, general health, etc. I saw you said you workout 6 days a week, I sure hope thats not 6 days with weights!

    Agreed.

4-6 Compounds. If there are 6 then NO isolations unless NEEDED.

2-3 Isolations afterwards. If the Compounds were heavy enough, you wont enough need these.

Agreed with this 100 times over! I see far to many young kids knocking out pec deck flyes constantly, and this is after doing 5 sets of bench, 5 sets of decline, and 5 sets of dips! I think damn I wish I had their energy minus their lack of intellegence. My workouts would be amazing then!

I think everyone has did it sometime or another in our lives. I gained some serious size lifting kinda like that years and years ago, but I was young and I always ate everything!

Yeah, but think of the stupidly low intensities they must be using, coupled with the 5 minute rest intervals per 8 rep set :P.

I dont do any isolation. The odd exercise every once in a while. Like the others have said, 4-6 compound movements is all you need.
