Thats how most people are. These fellas who whore my journal all the time call me a nut. I had my buddy watch me dead and he thinks I do it correctly. Heck who knows. Without me being able to post a vid I think i am screwed.

I squat more than I deadlift, but I think that's because I only started doing deadlifts 8 months ago whereas I have squatted for years. I'm focusing more on good form than on how many plates I put on the bar. If you look and feel good then I guess it doesn't matter, right?

That's especially weird by doing westside, with all the good morning and deads I would think you'd improve a lot in deads?

i think the smallest leniancy in your dead technique can allow you to lift a decent amount more. works that way for me. Squats are close to dead, long ass levers, havent done much deadlifting.

rule of specificity - train it and youll get better at it. have you deadlifted for as long as youve done squats?

No I have not. However I have been working with weights since I was 14. And I didnt deadlift for the first 5 years or so. I squatted all the time. However, I would think I would be back up to par 6 years later?

It's a little unusual to Squat more than you deadlift I think. Is there a big difference in the numbers? I deadlift more than I squat, but only about a 30lb difference.....

I dead about 420-430. I squatted the other day 430 for 3 reps. Very odd to me. I did dead more than I squatted, but my squat shot up like 30-40 pounds in no time. I dont even know what I did right. Whatever it is I wish I could figure out something on deads.

Everyone is different. It could be lots of factors, training specificity, length of muscles, limbs, proportions etc. Don't dwell on it, its not written in stone that one must DL more than they squat.

I like squats better of course, but thats probably more of an ego thing as well. It just feels more natural.

Are you sure that you're squatting to depth?

I would say most people can DL more. I can definitely DL more myself.

Definitly. I have a mirror right in front of me. I even ask my partner if I am going deep enough, because it looks like it to me. He says yes and then some.

    What constitutes "deep enough"?

I'd say I squat about 120% more than I deadlift, give or take. However, squats are the first exercise that I do on lower day, and I do deadlifts after a few leg presses and calf raises. Do you do both exercises on the same day?

I squat way more than I deadlift. I probably squat 100lbs more than I can deadlift now that I think about it.

I can deadlift way more than I can squat.

For some people their grip holds them back; if you can't hold onto it, it aint moving- (unless you use straps- which I think is a sin).
