Do i need protien supplements to gain mass?

Are there any bodybuilders that dont use protien supplements or creatine? i never have, ive been working out for a good 3-goin on 4 months, and i have made big gains in mass so far, im just wondering if you even have to take this stuff, id like to know now because i am serious about gaining a really nice body builders physique, also i heard that once you stop taking creotine your mass goes away fast (if you stop working out) so for me i would only consider taking whey protien, but anyways id just like some info thanks for your time

You only 'need' a protein supplement if you're not getting enough protein from your diet, so technically no, it's not a necessity. However, I'd suggest it post-workout.

A protein supplement is an efficient way to get some extra grams of protein without having to prepare a meal ...like if you finished your workout and you still want to go home to eat then you can have a protein shake till you go home and have your whole meal there.....

    the short answer is no.

the long answer depends on whats your definition of "bigness" and whats your definition of "a bodybuilder physique".

I dont know any professional bodybuilders who dont take protein shakes. but i do know heaps of people taking protein powder and steroids but still look weak and small.

Protein power is considerred as a very basic supplement in the world of bodybuilding because most of the money in this "profession" is from supplement companies.i still remember how i was so convinced that you need to take protein shake to get big because that is what people say on bodybuilding.com--coincidentally a website that sells protein powder.

This makes me conclude that protein powder is not required to get big. I do not have any supplementation at all. however, i dont consider myself as a big person while many of my freinds disagree. having said that, i do concede the majority of "big people" i know of spent a lot on protein powder.

this comes down to the reality that you need to eat a lot to grow and time is the key word. many people buy protein shake for its convinience, but if you are so determined to get a "bodybuilder physique (whatever that is)", not having protein powder is not going to stop you.

protein shakes definitely make it easier to get the daily amount of protein needed for muscle growth. if i were to stop taking shakes, i know that i would find it hard to either find the time or if i had the time, be able to stomach enough solid food without feeling too full and gross. i'm sure there are those who can pull off eating all solid food with no shakes better than i can.

somewhat off topic, but still relevant, i think that if you were to break down the cost of protein shakes versus solid food, you will find that protein shakes can be quite affordable
