Weight training has helped my cardio

on the running machines at my gym you can choose to take a fit test
The fit test makes you walk for a duration and then makes some calculations on your heart beat for the duration and gives you a score.

When i first steped into the gym my score was about 45 = average
I have only ever used Normal Cardio and over time i moved it up to 50 = Above average

It was at 50 for a long time as all i ever did was go to the gym for cardio, (I was one of those uneducated 'I dont want to work out because i dont want to get too big like it would only take a month or two to get huge' type person)

After i started to work out my score has jumped up to 53 = Good, its the highest iv been, and it looks to still be improving.

I am soon to incorporate HIIT cardio, so hopefully i will see more gains and move it up to Exellent)

i understand that this is only a test, but it is somthing that i can benchmark myself on.

Is this something that normally happens?, Weight training can help increase cardio.

weight training is a form of interval training. it can help to raise your work capacity.

you can use that test as a gauge of improvement. just make sure that you use the test given on the same brand of treadmill (doesn't have to be the exact same treadmill. jsut the same brand and model preferably), so that you can keep it as accurate as possible.

way to go!
