    partial reps

    I'm sort of stuck in the middle as what to do. Which will give me more mass - doing partial reps with heavy weights, or doing a full rep with lighter weight? I'm just worried that by doing the partial reps, I am not hitting muscle spots that i would hit if I do a full rep. Thoughts, anyone? Thank you!

    I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're new to weight training / body building. If that is the case, you really shouldn't bother with partials; or anything other than a good basic routine that centers around the big compound exercises (squats, dead lifts, military press, bench press, etc.)
    So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
    of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
    about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

    Partials are to functional training as chocolate is to dildo construction.

    Like DOMS says, get a simple basic program with big compound lifts, eat like a horse and you'll put on all the mass you need.

    I have lifting on and off for 3 years and have been lifting partial reps continously for the last 6 months. I have seen good results. BUT I want to know which is the more efficient way.

    Partials suck for the average trainee and it sounds like the basics would suffice for you.

    Even with lighter wts, full ROM should be the staple of your program. Regardless if it is a push/pull, multi joint, (insert favorite system here).

    Partials are used for different things. One is when you have a weak or sticking point in your full ROM lift. You can use partials to work the weak or sticking point. Partials can also be used as part of a shock exercise to shock the muscles. Shocking can help with hypertorphy when worked into an overall lifting program. Working reps in the 8-12 range is generally what works for most folks. And is a good place to start. You will get to know what works for you as far as the rep ranges go. As your body adapts you need to change things up to keep the body guessing and partials can help with this. There are other ways to shock the muscles as well (higher reps, supper sets, drop sets, shorter rest intervals, etc.).

    Read the exercise stickies and see what you can do to "adapt" some of the suggested things into your program. And remember, it should be approached as a program, not just a collection of exercises and favorite bidy parts to exercise.

    Those things are both huge and strong, and can run miles without stopping.

    If i had to eat nothing but hay, oats, barley and saltlick for the rest of my life to get that then you bet your ass i would :P.

    But no. Read "like a horse" as "a lot".
