    muscle soreness

    Ok, simple question...I think

I have really been pushing the weights and I feel great and I am making great progress. BUT does soreness mean I am pushing too hard or does it mean I am making progress...or am I just silly and it is only the nature of the beast?

DAMN I AM GLAD I FOUND YOU GUYS!!

Muscle soreness (awareness) a day or 2 after a workout is not a sign of pushing yourself too hard or overtraining. Some people don't get sore after their first month of so of working out. I always try and shock my muscles to get them sore. If I don't have any soreness 2 days after a workout I feel like I didn't push myself hard enough. Although you don't have to get sore after a workout to make gains.

    Thanks.

I was just wondering. I started working out in minimally in October of last year. I was sore a lot at first and then it eased up a bit. Then if February I moved from machine weights to free weights and I was soar again. That too subsided a little even though I still got sore occasionally. At the start of May I decided to get really serious about body building and once again I am feeling the burn so to speak LOL. I think I am pushing hard enough and making big progress in weight increments that I will continue to be sore...I guess eventually I will max out. I love being sore...if FEELS great!!!!

I am sore after EVERY workout!! If I am not sore then i almost feel like I have not worked hard enough. If you dont like being sore, try some glutamine, it should help you out a good bit bro

No, soreness does not mean you will make larger gains. Using Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is a bad way to judge the effectiveness of a training routine. DOMS usually doesn't set in for 24-48 hours and it should only last a day or two. If a body part is staying sore for long periods (like still sore the next time you go to work it), you have over did it. It can also be a sign of insufficient nutrition and rest. Some body parts get more sore than others and stay sore longer.

The effectiveness of a training routine needs to determined over a period of time not in a training session.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
