Current Routine Help & Advice
What's up everyone. Hoping to get an answer on this while I go through the forum and review other posts...
I'm new to working out consistently, but I want it to become habit. I was hoping to get some feedback as to what I've been doing for the past few weeks. I feel quite lost in my apartments gym and I'm not sure I'm doing anything correctly (reps/sets). I am looking to build strength and be physically fit. I'm not looking to be completely ripped. Muscle definition is great + a bit of added bulk I suppose would be cool too. First off, it's all machines except for dumbbells. What I've been doing is (5-6 sets, 8 reps of each) - every other day, I run on the other days taking one or 2 days off each week. Chest Press Lat Pulls Shoulder Press Curls (25 lbs) Leg Press Leg Curls Leg Extensions I set the weight on most of these so that it gets tough around 7 or 8 reps... on occasion, I only get through 4 or 5 on a set and really start to struggle. So I guess this is good for having a tough work out. So then just a few questions, Do you think this is adequate for what I want to do? Am I hitting the right muscles for a well-rounded physique? How much break should I give myself between sets for these? THANKS! for any help. |

Stay puffed, baby.

How tall are you, how much do you weigh?
Honestly, it looks pretty bad. Try and go to a real gym, work with some free weights. Too many sets, and if you're doing 8 reps every set you obviously aren't working out with much intensity. |

Thanks for your response...
About 6 feet 1 inch & around 185lbs... Yea, I figured as much considering I have no idea what I'm doing. Only thing about a real gym is -- does staff help spot? I think it would be difficult to find a work out partner that could go at the same times I need to go. But I feel like I do need someone to guide me through a program to get me up to speed. |
