    Increase Strength

I was wondering what the best way to increase your strength is? More reps or lifting more weight? Maybe am thinking the wrong way. I would like to improve my strength.

The best way to increase your strength is to learn about physiology and weight training techniques. Start with the stickies at the top of this forum and go from there.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Depends WB. Westside isnt for someone who doesnt really have a good understanding of strength gains in the first place. Westside focuses on lots of 1rm's and if a person doesnt have the correct strength and balance throughout their body they may in fact end up hurting themselves. But westside is a mean routine for strength!

I was thinking of looking at some sort of Westside-based program for either my next one, or the one after that.

My conditioning is good now, but im getting to the stage where im fed up of being so damned weak, lol.

I was hoping you'd say that, man - You seem to really get off on this westside stuff

But yeah. I thought you could choose any three movements you liked (within reason of course, unless i want to pioneer Westside Barbell Curls...).

The only problem is that (i was thinking about this last night) my gym doesnt have a bloody squat rack, so i was going to substitute Barbell Hack Squats or Overhead Squats or something.

Deadlifts and Bench arent a problem, obviously. Though i'll have to learn to trust spotters :P.

Normally the only time you do squats is speed squats or some other form of squats other than regular back squats anyways. OH squats are really not the squats of choice. Heavy good mornings are a good idea for westside as well.

BTW what kind of gym doesnt have a squat rack? Dude you had better get on em.

It depends on your experience level. Beginners can see a lot of neural and structural adaptations with fairly low intensity weights. As you progress, you need to up that intensity to see the same gains in both departments. However, you will most likely have to use the highest intensity (80-100% of 1RM) once you are intermediate to advanced to see gains in neuromuscular efficiency.

Check out the stickies for a little more information.
